Rick asked me to help with some of the work and my first task was to work on the restoration of the cab which to put it mildly was in a bit of a state with rotten framing and severe rusting to all the cab panels. The worst of the damage was along the lower edges of the side panels and doors around the wings, the lower part of the front panel, the roof edges and the rear panels. The cab had been removed from the chassis and the unit was moved to my own workshop for me to work on and underneath a layer of green paint the original colour which was also green and garage door opener from iphone of the Strachan and Henshaw signwriting were found. The whole tiling was in danger of falling apart so to keep it together Rick had bolted on a framework made up from Dexion section. Using what remained of the original cab floor and panels as templates I cut out replacement panels from steel sheet and these were welded up to form the base of the new cab.
